dc.description.abstract	Brazilian thought has been neglected by legal practitioners. One of the functions of philosophy, among its various other roles, is to consolidate the identity of a culture. It can be said that today, Brazil has a legal-philosophical past. The aim of this work is to introduce to the reader interested in the history of legal ideas in Brazil, the intellectual movement which began in the 19th century at the Recife Faculty of Law – hence known as the “Recife School”	pt_BR
dc.description.resumo	O pensamento brasileiro tem sido negligenciado pelos juristas. A filosofia, entre vários outros papéis, também tem por função consolidar a identidade de uma cultura. E pode-se dizer que, hoje, o Brasil já tem um passado jusfilosófico. Este trabalho tem por objetivo introduzir o leitor, interessado na história das idéias jurídicas no Brasil, ao movimento intelectual iniciado no século XIX na Faculdade de Direito do Recife – por isso chamado “Escola do Recife”	pt_BR
